The Reform UK leader Accuses Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics

The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by telling children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I expect a walkout by educators soon after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this harmful mindset.”

Reacting to these assertions, the head of a major education union rejected the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.

“The politician has crafted his political career on dog-whistle politics and currently, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a fight,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, including education … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”

Reform, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.

However, his comments suggested the group would reform the system and the curriculum. He said: “We face an enormous task with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”

He stated that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Paying tribute to a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind as opposed to current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

Farage has accused the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.

Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in schools and extensive missed instruction for children.

During the American gathering, Farage also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He stated such groups were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I am serious. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to these educational programs. I pledge this now and I’ll do that.”

The college, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. The college furnishes these excellent programs for free to all who wish to learn.”
