Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was natural for questions to be asked about his position after a further heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the club's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got significant support from management,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory of course but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it's expected that people question you.”

He continued, “I accept my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the trust. However I've not talked to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented recurring weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell like this with performances so bad.”

He stated, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to the top, show everyone once more what this club is about and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
