Iranian Forces State Assault on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the US has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.
The statement noted missile fragments landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
