Football Expert Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Top Flight Predictions

Arsenal's 10-game winning streak was ended by the Black Cats prior to the international break, but will the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Tottenham this weekend?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against artificial intelligence, fans and a range of special visitors.

For week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

The singer's latest record, the new release, is out on Friday.

Football and Parenting Life

Olly is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a star of multiple charity football games over time - but he is not intending a serious return as a player.

"{I recently played in a benefit game the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my child or son decides to play instead."

Murs and his spouse his partner have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their coach.

"I won't force football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be managing their Saturday soccer team," he said.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our side for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's comeback from injury but their offense is already more potent with Pedro and Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this game will be quite close, however. Burnley are well organised and their sole home losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

It suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

Olly's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they appear strong again.

West Ham's only on the road victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno was still that team's manager.

So, what exactly do I go with here - can West Ham continuing their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

The guest's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign began, but they have surprised a several people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three in their last four matches.

A family member told me to select Bees striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will probably score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had much success on the road this term, and the Seagulls are always decent at home. Brentford will attempt to attack on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team pose much more of a danger.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

The singer's prediction: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually turns out to be quite tight. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge game for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.

Fulham have have plenty of quality in their squad but it still seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.

Regarding the Black Cats, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.

The away side's performance in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not seen anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this term, and they were more than a match for them.

The logical choice would be to support the visitors here, because they are clearly capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the close of October.

However I am not going to choose that. Instead, I truly need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.

Considering Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the sole team they have lost to is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be absolutely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.

The expert's forecast: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I know Sunderland are doing well and additionally that Fulham are on a poor run... but they have still been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a tough fixture to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but could they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
