Fans Demand Detainment of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Devoted followers of the actress are demanding that a man who leaped a barricade and touched the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A circulating video depicts the person identified as Johnson Wen pushing past photographers and rushing toward Grande while the performers walked down a event pathway flanked by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately guided the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "free after being detained", though legal records indicated that he was scheduled to be present on the next day. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram account includes recordings of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney performance in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the same location last December.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is clearly a legal violation," commented an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user questioned.
Supporters Voice Worry Over Grande's Past Trauma
Many fans blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented another comment on Instagram.
Several fans also faulted event staff at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while some requested social media platforms to block Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In videos shared widely, Grande looked startled when she was grabbed by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Many of supporters had gathered in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore mall, including a number who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be released on 21 November, is the follow-up of a two-part interpretation of the well-known stage show Wicked, which centers on the unlikely bond between two contrasting witches.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a rosé sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the highest-grossing film of 2024 in the UK, and earned ten award recognitions, securing a pair for outstanding attire and artistic direction.
