Raducanu made it to the third stage in three of the four Grand Slams in the current campaign.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her remaining competitions of the year due to a health issue she has been battling in recent days.

At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to recover prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season.

Her upcoming training will include her coach Francisco Roig, as the pair will keep partnering again next season.

She had her blood pressure taken during her first-round match against Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and retired when trailing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She needed once more a doctor's assessment at this week's Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the final set against Zhu owing to back discomfort that has been a concern on several occasions in 2025.

Such performances meant an encouraging season, in which she climbed into the international top 30 after a long gap for the first time since 2022, ended with three successive defeats.

Raducanu had three match points before losing to Pegula in round three in last month's Beijing event.

Raducanu won 28 matches this year and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her most impressive week was at the Miami event in March.

Ranked first in Britain advanced to the quarters of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route prior to a loss in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula.

She was coached by Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in ahead of the US Open.

The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was until the end of the season but the collaboration persists, with planned training sessions for the end of the year.

She mentioned that the trial session with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She came very close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their first tournament together in Cincinnati in August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three then falling to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
